Visual Music

When you listen to music what do you feel? What do you see in your mind? What if you could see a duo performing their music that is completely synced up to visualization behind them on a screen. I am currently starting up a music project with a friend of mine in which we compliment our music to video footage we've gathered on our own. I feel as if the music scene is failing in diversity, and it's time to redefine originality. I will soon have a few music videos i've created, along with footage that compliments my music.

Enjoy this footage of me playing my Monome for now!

My Musical Message

From the moment  I was born into this world i've been a music lover. Being brought up around a musical family has been a blessing, and i'm thankful I was given the experience. Some children growing up do not have the  opportunity to be around creativity, arts, and the true essence of life.  With this being said,  over time I have become a very serious music lover and musician. From the early fresh thumping sounds of Stevie Wonder, to the bitter sweet angelic voice of Billie Holiday, I have to say I truly admire music and it's form. In my opinion music is a very powerful form of artistic expression that can change one human being's life, or sometimes take the whole world by storm.

People from all races, regions, and cultures have been given the artistic freedom to show expression through music. The prolific words from Jamaica's one and only Bob Marley, to Nigeria's pioneer and founder of Afro beat music Fela Kuti. What has happened to the powerful meaning and message behind music? Over the years I have watched the rapid decline of great bands that make an impact and change. Maybe it's just me with this harsh outlook on new music. Maybe i'm not "open minded" enough to be touched and inspired by the new artists of our time. I can count on my one hand how many artists have really grabbed my attention in this musical era. I see myself as an educator of music, not a hater of music. Therefore I would like to educate the youth, and also people my age to the true and legendary artists that have shaped music's form.

Don't get me wrong, I do like some music of our time such as; Raphael Saadiq who actually has put forth time into writing his own music and lyrics. It's time for someone in the musica scene to make an impact, and too make a change in this world. It's been too long, and I think were due for another great musical entity. I would like to see major labels make a change, and develop a new approach in how they are marketing music. Maybe push the materialistic, fake, chauvinistic washed up artists off to the side, and put some really talent on your label. What is being fed into the minds of our youth? I could name off a few if you'd like, but I think you have an idea.  It's time to break out your parents vinyl collection that's collecting dust, and get to work! Help identify the true message of music with me. Lets all grow together, and make this music world a better place!
